The Denim & Diamonds Concert - July 15, 2006

July 15, 2006. The Old Parliament House. Singapore.

Its 6.00pm. The VIP ticket holders are beginning to arrive for their pre-dinner cocktails. The Chamber where the concert will be held is empty and Claressa's microphone; the state of the art Sennheiser SKM 5200 stands ready.

7.00pm. Claressa meets some of the concert goers at her mother Edna's table.

7.10pm. Claressa relaxed and chatting with other concert goers.

7.30pm. Claressa heads to her dressing room having received a pre-concert bouquet from sponsors to prepare for her show....

 

 

9.00pm. The performance is into its third song the beautiful "I've Got A Crush On You" by George and Ira Gershwin.

 

All of us and the audience thought it was a perfect evening. You could tell from the applause and the way the audience stomped their feet calling for an encore. - Tan Tee Tong. Director, Arts Enterprise. The Arts House at the Old Parliament.

9.30pm. Claressa's trio in full swing.

10.20pm. The performance is over and Claressa says farewell to her audience.

 

Claressa Monteiro started her music career in 1986 as a session singer freelancing for recording studios around Singapore.

She got her first break by winning a talent contest. The prize was a place in the resident band at one of Singapore's hottest venues. The now defunct 'Peppermint Park'.

Her 'Denim & Diamonds' Concert at the Chamber in the historic Old Parliament House was her second concert in Singapore for 2006 and marks her 20th year in music.

 

 

CD Launch Showcase


Tourmaline Dreams was launched at a concert showcase held at the Play Den, The Arts House in Singapore on May 16, 2006.

Released in stores on May 18, 2006 in Singapore. International release dates to follow.
